She has worked with diverse segments of society in Pakistan. Coming from a political family, her earliest experience dealing with people was through her father’s public life. He always encouraged her to be engaged with his constituents and to understand their needs. Her father emphasized the importance of public service, a focus that saw him gain the honour of becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab thrice. She was heavily engaged in many of his campaigns, and considered herself privileged to have been the primary worker for one of the seats that he won in the 2018 elections.
This focus on public service has been constant in her life, and has most recently seen her set up an orphanage in the city of Islamabad by the name of The Lighthouse. First and foremost, it is meant to provide a safe haven for children who have faced the major trauma of losing a parent so early in life. Given that the primary vocation of her husband’s family is education, she has an extra focus on this area.
Along with her public work, She heads one of the verticals in her family’s education business. She is the head of Concordia Colleges Pakistan, which provides a range of qualifications from F.A/F.Sc to BA/B.Com to students around the country. The network has emerged as one of the major players in the higher education landscape in the country by focussing on using technology to enhance classroom teaching and learning. This has helped her develop and polish her management skills and increased her outreach among the educated public at various levels.
A major influence in her life has been her in-laws. Her father-in-law is a Former Foreign Minister of Pakistan, known nationally and internationally for his book “Neither a Hawk Nor a Dove” on Pakistani foreign relations, published by Oxford University Press. He is an important resource person on foreign policy and international engagement. But more importantly he has earned a reputation for honesty and integrity which has become part of the family’s DNA, and everything they do professionally and personally is a reflection of this heritage.
Her Mother-in-law is an Iconic figure for women’s empowerment in the country. She started Beaconhouse School System when she was a young woman, and it has now grown to one of the largest education networks in the world. Her dedication, focus, and discipline are tremendous, inspiring and have encouraged her to push herself beyond her limits.
